Zizi

Zizi

Zizi was born in College Station, Texas around 2010. As a kitten, it appears that her owners abused her. Medical records state that the previous owner punched her in the head so hard that it dislocated her jaw and damaged her left eye. Her left eye routinely tears up and has to be cleaned due to this damage. Sometime after this, she was given to a new family that eventually came to Los Alamos. In 2018, she was turned into the Los Alamos Animal Shelter. According to animal shelter records, the owners claimed that she got outside and were terrified that she would bring "some disease" back to their child. Despite all vet tests coming back negative, they gave the cat to the shelter for adoption. Less than 48 hours later, my wife and I were visiting the shelter. I saw Zizi cuddling up to my wife and immediately adopted her into the household. Her original name was Sonya. My wife renamed her in honor of a cat she owned while living in Brussels.

Once home, we quickly found out why Zizi was given up at the shelter. She had a sensitive stomach and bad allergies, which caused her to throw up a lot. We experimented with different foods over the next year until we found one that did not upset her stomach. Suffering from allergies ourselves, we also setup additional HEPA air purifiers in the house. These helped curtail Zizi's stomach issues, kept her from throwing up, and helped reduce the tearing in her left eye. Since then, Zizi has been a model of health.

While Saul tends to follow me around and sleep on my desk as I work, Zizi does the same for my wife. Unfortunately, Zizi mostly wants to be left alone by Saul and Jinn. She is perfectly fine following my wife around the house or sleeping in her kitty bed in the bedroom.
